- “The Created Biology of Gender Stratification: From Hunters-Gatherers to Low Educated Male Workers” (Rae Lesser Blumberg, University of Virginia), keynote address
- “Human Rights in American Sociology: A Case of U.S. Exceptionalism?” (Elizabeth Boyle, University of Minnesota), keynote address
These are all in addition to the MSS usual line up of events including Trivia Night, a tour of the Milwaukee Art Museum, MSS Presidential Address by Deb White (Minnesota State University Moorhead), Peter Hall Lecture by Patrick McGinty (Western Illinois University), and all the stimulating research presentations and friendly conversations. The Committee on Teaching and Learning will be offering a teaching certificate.
Let’s not forget the Couch-Stone Symposium, “21st Century Interactionism”, meeting along with us. They will have their own formal paper and author meets critic sessions along with two keynotes “The Interaction Order in the 21st Century and the Case of Policy Legitimacy” by Christopher Schneider (Brandon University) and “Between Situations: Social Worlds and the Rhythms of Interaction” by Iddo Tavory (New York University).
