Audiovisual arrangements

The availability of audiovisual equipment changes each year.  This year:
All presentation rooms will have LCD [also called digital or data or PowerPoint] projectors. YOUR presentation room WILL have a digital projector even if you did not request it.  Please note: To use your digital projector, you or your session organizer must bring a laptop computer to hook up to the digital projector. NO computers will be provided by MSS. Confer with your session organizer to make arrangements.

Some presentation rooms will also have overhead projectors - if one was requested by the organizer.  If an overhead was requested for your session, you can share graphics or data with your audience by making overhead transparencies or handouts to bring with you.  Please confer with your session organizer.

NO other audiovisual arrangements - Internet hookup, microphones, dvd players - will be provided unless requested of the program chair BEFORE MARCH 1.

NO audiovisual equipment will be provided to roundtable presenters.

To contact the program chair about audiovisual arrangements or to request  your organizer/s contact info, please email her.
Future Faculty Certification Program

This program provides a structure for focusing your conference participation on teaching and learning skill development; thus, it documents and recognizes a student’s participation in sessions directly focused on teaching and professional development in sociology.

This program provides a structure for focusing your conference participation on teaching and learning skill development; thus, it documents and recognizes a student’s participation in sessions directly focused on teaching and professional development in sociology.

In order to receive the MSS Certification you must attend 5 sessions, as listed in
this document.  There are multiple sessions in nearly every time slot.  Please confirm the session details in the full program.  Verify your attendance with a signature from an organizer, presider, discussant, or one of the presenters at the end of each session you attend (only one signature per session is required).  In addition to this signed document, include your answer to the following question: How have the sessions you attended contributed to your professional development in sociology?  This reflective essay should be approximately 1-2 pages.

This completed sheet with signatures should be turned in to Student Director, Priya Dua, in person or to MSS Registration, 4th floor, by 12:00 PM Sunday.  The reflective essay can be turned in with this signed sheet, or alternatively if additional time is needed, emailed as an attachment to Priya Dua here by Sunday, April 8, 2012.  Later, you will be emailed a certificate of completion that can be highlighted on your curriculum vitae.

Special Services  - child care / disability

MSS will help you subsidize quality childcare so you can attend sessions during the meetings.  MSS will also provide reasonable accommodations for disabilities.  To arrange childcare or an accommodation, before March 7, please contact Local Arrangements Chair Sue Smith-Cunnien by email
or phone her at her office after Jan. 31 at: (651)962-5637.
