Optional tours are open to all attendees of the MSS Annual Meeting
REGISTER for tours when you register for the annual meeting at the MSS registration page during the advance registration period ending March 1st.
- Purchase tour tickets before March 1st. Limited seating!
- You may wish to buy tour tickets AFTER the final program is published in January, to make sure you are not scheduled for a presentation or meeting during the tour you wish to take. Tour tickets are not refundable after March 1st.
- Yes, you can complete advance registration now and access MSS’s advance registration form later to buy a tour ticket.
Tour 1: Growing Power
TOUR DESCRIPTION: A non-profit, urban farm in Milwaukee that was started in 1993 by Will Allen to improve access to healthy, high quality, safe and affordable food. The tour will cover the Community Food Center and the two-acre farm, and will include demonstrations of their sustainable solutions such as using worms to consume waste, fish to fertilize plants, and honeybees to pollinate.

Tour 2: Milwaukee Pub Crawl
TOUR DESCRIPTION: Join your colleagues in an organized tour of multiple bars near the conference hotel. The tour includes must-see Milwaukee watering holes such as the Uber Tap Room and a spy-themed bar. During the tour, you will have many opportunities to indulge in Wisconsin cheeses and sausages, as well as get a chance to take your picture with “The Fonz,” a bronze statue of the iconic character from the Milwaukee-inspired “Happy Days.” Fee includes a t-shirt with a schedule and a map of the bars on the tour and conference hotel so that you can always find your way back.

Tour 3: Milwaukee Art Museum
TOUR DESCRIPTION: A guided tour of the galleries at the Milwaukee Art Museum. The museum itself is a work of art and is comprised of three buildings, including a moveable sunscreen with a 217-foot wingspan that unfolds and folds twice daily, designed by legendary architects: Eero Saarinen, David Kahler, and Santiago Calatrava. Inside the museum are over 30,000 works of art, including one of the largest collection of works by Wisconsin native Georgia O’Keeffe. Exhibitions that will be on display during the annual MSS meeting include contemporary uses of paper, European interpretations of classic mythology starting from the Renaissance period, and photography by Helen Levitt.
